Blue Ridge Chapter
10/5/2009 12:21:22 PM Blue Ridge Chapter News A schedule of exciting educational offerings is in place. Our first workshop is detailed below and will address the challenge of helping families of children with Asperger Syndrome.
We have planned a dessert social in October and hope both members and non-members will come to share this time of networking and discussion.
The chapter had a Networking Social at Lew Weber's lovely home on Friday, May 22, 2009, which was well attended and everyone had a great time. A program planning committee meeting also took place on July 10th at the office of Christine Walker in Charlottesville. As the chapter rebuilds and expands its offerings, officers of the board want members to know that “all ideas are welcome!” Please call Lucille R. Williams at 434-963-0324 ext. 13 for input.
Local Chapter Chairs are Lucille Williams and Lew Weber. Please feel free to contact either of them with questions or suggestions at Lucillerwilliams@comcast.net or lewisweber11@yahoo.com
10/5/2009 12:18:47 PM Dessert Social in October Everyone is invited to Lew Weber's house on Friday October 30 at 6:30 for a dessert party. This will be a great opportunity to network and talk about professional interests and concerns. Bring a dessert and bring a friend.

Friday, November 20, Rick Goodling, LCSW 2:00-4:30 p.m. at Unity Church, 2825 Hydraulic Circle, Charlottesville Free to members: $30 for non-members This two-hour continuing education workshop will provide an overview of clinical hypnosis, common myths and misperceptions, the ethics of use, contexts for use and a video of Michael Yapko demonstrating interviewing technique and the practice of clinical hypnosis. The workshop is intended to be a sampler…an appetizer to encourage those interested to pursue more comprehensive training.
Rick Goodling, LCSW is well-known among clinicians in Charlottesville and a longstanding member of the Blue Ridge Chapter of VSCSW. Rick primarily worked at Region Ten where he began in 1986 in the Community Care Program as a clinical case manager. He was promoted to Program Manager of the Adult Outpatient Program, and worked as both a clinician and supervisor until he retired in 2006 to begin private practice with Lewis Weber & Associates.
In addition to extensive training in Object Relations Theory and American Sign Language, Rick has completed approximately 200 hours of training and workshops in clinical hypnosis with Jeff Zeig, Holly Forster-Miller, and Michael Yapko, and has used these techniques in his private practice in treating people with chronic, severe pain, anxiety, panic disorder, phobia, depression, and trauma. Please RSVP to Lucille Williams, LCSW at lrwilliamslcsw@comcast.net Or 434-963-0324 (ext. 13)
