Roanoke Chapter
2/23/2010 6:29:27 AM Our Roanoke chapter wrapped up its 2008-2009 year in May with a fascinating luncheon presentation by Cabell Youell, Director of St. Francis Service Dog Foundation. Cabell and her service dog, Bella, demonstrated the positive physical and emotional benefits provided by service dogs to individuals with disabilities. At that meeting, our chapter also elected the 2009-2010 Board: Joanne Chiglinsky, Chair; Rebecca Ewell and Kathleen Bagby, Co-Vice-Chair; Bethany Cook, Secretary; Ann Sauls, Treasurer; Pat Bryant, Membership Chair; Ron Salzbach, Education Chair. Our current retiring Chair, Peggy Holland, will be moving into her new role as State President of VSCSW, and Maurice Fisher, our Representative-at-Large, will be the new State Treasurer. We wish all of these new local and state Board members a productive new term of service! Our local Board is busy now with plans for 2009-2010 educational programs. We hope to be able to provide a conference this Fall to address ethical issues of social work. Other monthly luncheon presentations will cover topics such as: updated family therapy, community resources, addiction treatments, parental alienation syndrome, and many more. A goal of our chapter this year will be to provide a survey to all of our members, requesting feedback on their interests and needs from our organization. With this email survey, we hope to continually improve our ability to meet the needs of social workers in our community.
