Malpractice and Testifying in Court: ***

These are two areas of Social Work practice that raise a great deal of anxiety for many practitioners. This webinar is an interview with Joseph G. Lynch LCSW, CSOTP about these two difficult topics.  Mr. Lynch was a member of the Clinical team of Shenandoah Valley Sex Offender Treatment Program for twenty years and testified many times as both a fact and an expert witness.   Mr. Lynch chaired the Discipline Committee of the Virginia Board of Social Work for 9 years and is very familiar with the kind of professional misconduct that is committed by Social Workers and can lead to malpractice suits.  Mr. Lynch is a frequent lecturer on Social Work ethics and helping Social Workers learn how to make ethical decisions using a model that helps organize choices and priorities. Tips for reducing your anxiety about testifying by careful preparation for court are examined.

*** There are several handouts that accompany the webinar and can be downloaded by going to: http://www.vscsw.org/malpractice_and_testifying_in_court_handouts
